Bureau Veritas is a world-leading provider in testing, inspection and certification. Created in 1828, the Group has more than 69,000 employees in around 1,400 offices and laboratories all across the world. Bureau Veritas helps its clients to improve their performance by offering services and innovative solutions in order to ensure that their assets, products, infrastructure and processes meet standards and regulations in terms of quality, health and safety, environmental protection and social responsibility.
As a classification society, Bureau Veritas assesses ships and offshore facilities for conformity with standards that mainly concern structural soundness and the reliability of machinery on-board. Bureau Veritas also provides ship certification on of flag administrations.
The Marine business generated revenue of EUR 391.9 million in 2016 (9% of the Group’s revenue for 2016) and had an adjusted operating margin of 25.3%.
Bureau Veritas provides inspection and laboratory testing services for all types of commodities, including Oil and Petrochemicals, Metals and Minerals and Agri-Food.
The Agri, Food & Commodities business generated revenue of EUR 1,004.6 million in 2016 (22% of the Group’s 2016 revenue) and had an adjusted operating margin of 11.6%.
Bureau Veritas checks the reliability and integrity of industrial assets and their conformity with regulations. Services include conformity assessment, production monitoring, asset integrity management and equipment certification. Bureau Veritas also checks the integrity of industrial equipment and products through services such as non-destructive testing and materials testing.
In 2016, the Industry business generated EUR 1,126.8 million in revenues (25% of the Group's 2016 revenue) and an adjusted operating margin of 12.6%.
Bureau Veritas helps its clients manage all quality, health, safety and environmental (QHSE) aspects of their construction projects, from design to completion. Missions involve assessing construction projects for compliance with technical standards, technical assistance, monitoring safety management during works and providing asset management services. Bureau Veritas also conducts recurrent inspections to assess in-service equipment (electrical installations, fire safety systems, elevators, lifting equipment and machinery) for compliance with health and safety regulations or client-specific requirements.
The Building & Infrastructure business generated revenue of EUR 1,034.1 million in 2016 (22% of the Group’s revenue for 2016) and had an adjusted operating margin of 15.6%.
As a certification body, Bureau Veritas certifies that the quality, safety, health and environment management systems utilized by clients comply with international standards (usually ISO) or with national, sector or large company-specific standards.
The Certification business generated revenue of EUR 353.5 million in 2016 (8% of the Group’s 2016 revenue) and had an adjusted operating margin of 17.1%.
Bureau Veritas works with retailers and manufacturers of consumer products to assess their products and manufacturing processes for compliance with regulatory, quality and performance requirements. Bureau Veritas tests products, inspects merchandise, assesses factories, and conducts audits of the entire supply chain.
The Consumer Products business generated revenue of EUR 638.3 million in 2016 (14% of the Group’s 2016 revenue) and had an adjusted operating margin of 24.4%.
